Urban Reef Seafront Restaurant and Beach Bar
Urban Reef is located on Boscombe Beach and offers panoramic views across Bournemouth Bay, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Purbeck.
They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner or just drinks with options to sit inside, outside and upstairs.
While staying at Bournemouth Beach Lodges we walked along the promenade (10-15 minutes) to enjoy a delicious breakfast (served until 11am) before a busy day in Bournemouth.
As soon as we entered we knew we had found something special! Despite visiting in October during Storm Brian’s visit, the sun was shining, they had music playing and we felt at ease. The decor is perfectly suited to the surroundings. The surf and beach vibe is strong! With lights and coloured jars hanging from the ceiling and a glass front offering panoramic views – it was perfect.
There were SO many good things to choose from on the menu, a real variety. A full English breakfast, veggie breakfast, grilled smoked kipper, pancakes, eggs Benedict and more! Although the children don’t have a specific menu they can order half portions and pay half the price. To view their menus click here.
We were not disappointed by the food. We all got a little bit of food envy so ended up sharing each other’s breakfast. Everything was delicious! My only regret was not ordering a breakfast cocktail or trying one of their smoothies – they looked incredible.
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Urban Reef. Our food, service and the surroundings were perfect and we can’t wait to return. I think we may need to try lunch, dinner and some of the delicious homemade cakes available!
So how suitable is Urban Reef for families with young children?
It’s a great place to be for all, including children! They had highchairs available, very clean and spacious toilet facilities, they provided the children with a sticker and colouring activity pack and they offer children’s portions from the breakfast menu. Another nice touch was plastic cups for the kids and the friendly manner in which they spoke to the children. To make it even more child friendly, it would be good if they could have smaller cutlery to use.
We had a lovely breakfast at Urban Reef and the panoramic views are incredible. We will definitely be returning both with and without kids. With exciting names like Shark bites and Night-vision bolognaise on the children’s menu, you can’t really go wrong. Maybe a date night without the children should be on the cards too to sample a cocktail (or 2) from the menu. If you’re over Bournemouth way a trip here is essential, or maybe even make a special trip to visit – I know we will be!
